What is DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is the central database of the internet; it catalogs every domain and IP address on the internet, including registration information, as well as their relation to other domains and web hosts. For example, when you type in amariacupcakes.net into your browser, the browser first needs to get the IP address of www.amariacupcakes.net. DNS helps us to convert the URL into an IP address that the computer can understand.
